We caught up Ciaran in Somerset on Friday afternoon as the band prepared themselves for their friend Owen's wedding. Do leave a comment below and if you have a question for Dan next time send it to feedback@thefeeling.com.
Hi Ciaran, where are you and what are you doing?
I'm in Somerset. It's our friend Owen's wedding this weekend - I think Kev told you about his stag do in the last catch-up. It's taking place in Bradley House where we recorded the album. The actual wedding's tomorrow, today it's a rehearsal / preparation day.
Is that your first time back at Bradley House for a while?
It will be, yeah. We went back briefly for a press thing when the album came out, but not since then.
Are you staying there?
No, we're all staying in different places around the area.
Will the band be playing music at the wedding?
Well, myself and my girlfriend will be playing a little number at the ceremony tomorrow, but I think that's all.
Are they letting you loose on a church organ?
No, I think the ceremony is in the house itself. I used to play a church organ a little bit back where I grew up, though. I never really mastered it that well. But I did a few services and a wedding.
Paul should get you playing the organ at his upcoming wedding.
Well, he is, I believe. I'm not much of an organist though. I can play the keys, but not the pedals.
So, it's been a busy few weeks since we caught up with Kev. First up you had the Clumber Park show.
Yeah, that was good. I think I had problems with my keyboard, it was creating a mad distorted sound during the set, so that threw me a little bit, but other than that it was a lot of fun. And then we went straight from there to V Festival.
How was that?
It was great. It was much like when did it two years ago. We started off in Staffordshire, where it peed it down.

People in Staffs putting their hands in the air and waving them like they just don't care
Not during your set though.
No, that is true. It started raining just after we left the stage and then it got progressively heavier and heavier. But the set went well. And we saw a lot of bands that day as well. We saw Squeeze play and Lenny Kravitz and we woke up to the sound of the Stranglers, which was great. And then the following day in Chelmsford was even better really - we'd had a few sound troubles in Staffordshire and they'd been sorted out and it was a really sunny day.
The fans noted that Dan was a little tiddly in the video of the V session you did backstage.
Ah, the acoustic one? Yes, I think he was by then.
So you had a merry old time?
We did. It was very nice. And Dan got to sing with Squeeze as well, doing a Dolly Parton song.
What did you do in the week between V and the Olympic handover gig?
We've been recording bits and bobs, which is going well. And we've started working on some new ideas, so we've been back at the Moon doing that.
Does it herald a new direction?
I don't know really. I suppose we've never been aware of heading in any direction or planning for things to sound different. I don't think Dan will ever consciously think, "OK, I'm going to write a reggae song or a metal song", but sometimes they just come out a bit that way. But whatever it is will still always sound like us, I think.
So how was the Olympic handover party?
Oh that was a lot of fun. I think we were all quite nervous about it, because we knew it was gonna be seen on TV by a lot of people and there was quite a crowd there as well. But we got to play with an orchestra, which was great.
Did you have to rehearse that?
Yeah, we rehearsed with them a couple of days beforehand. They were amazing. We just stuck the music in front of them and they nailed it first time. It was fun doing 'Heroes' as well, the Bowie song.
It was good to see Dan going for a wander during that.
Well, they had a couple of guitarists as part of the house band, so Dan realised it was a chance to ditch the guitar and strut! So he delegated the duties onto one of the guitarists, who did a great job.
And you played 'Join With Us' too, which seems to be shaping up well for its release as a single.
Yeah, Radio One weren't so keen to play the last couple of singles, but they seem to be happy to play this one, which is cool. And we're really happy with the video for that one too. I think it's one of our best.
So what's coming up in the next couple of weeks?
Ooh, I'm not really sure. I think we're going to Cannes to play a private party, which sounds quite interesting. Other than that, we'll just be working on new music.
Right, readers' questions. Michelle would like to know what you've broken at the end of 'Don't Make Me Sad'.
Oh, yes, it was one of Dan's pianos. The honky tonk one. He'd basically nailed loads of drawing pins to the inside of it to get that sound. But the sustain pedal actually fell off inside the piano, so by the end of the song it wasn't having any effect at all. But it made for a funny sounding thing!
Next, Natasha would like to know who the laziest member of the band is.
That's a very tricky question. Um, we all have our moments. I mean, I like to sleep as late as possible myself.
Ah, so the answer might be you.
It could well be! I do enjoy my sleep. If I have the opportunity to sleep until midday, I will.
Last question is from Andrea who asks about the fact that you didn't do the parachute jump on Owen's stag do, because you're not keen on flying. She wonders how you pluck up the courage to do all the flying that you do as part of the band.
Well I don't particularly enjoy it. It's a tricky one really. I just force myself to do it because I have to. I actually went to see a hypno-therapist a few months back for a session. It doesn't seem to have worked so far, but he did tell me I'd really need two or three sessions to get it to work properly.
Did you watch the others floating down?
I did. It was very weird. They looked like ants falling from the sky.
You don't regret that you weren't with them?
No. Although I think I might have actually found the going up in the plane more terrifying then being thrown out of it and floating through the sky!
